How to use this tool
Paste an original and revised text, each with at most 500 lines. Comparison uses a longest-common-subsequence calculation after normalizing CRLF line endings. It is exact and case-sensitive, including spaces. The display marks removed lines with minus and additions with plus; it does not interpret code, meaning or a word-level edit.
Try these values
Changing one line from “old heading” to “new heading” produces one removed line and one added line, rather than a claim that the entire document changed.
Common questions
Is this a semantic comparison?
No. It compares lines of text and does not know whether two programs or sentences have equivalent meaning.
Why are invisible spaces reported?
Spaces belong to the string, so adding or removing them can change a line.
