PRACTICAL GUIDE

Choose a Readable Slug and Keep Its URL Stable

Turn a heading into a lowercase, hyphen-separated slug with ASCII or Unicode letter support.

Start with a useful page name

A slug should help someone recognize the page. Remove unnecessary wording manually after conversion if it makes the URL clearer. Adding keywords mechanically does not guarantee search rankings, and a short slug cannot compensate for an unhelpful page.

Choose ASCII or Unicode

ASCII mode is convenient for systems expecting Latin letters and digits, but it can discard words in other scripts. Unicode mode retains more letters and numbers. Both modes remove combining marks, so review the result for your language rather than assuming perfect transliteration.

Check for collisions

Different headings can reduce to the same slug after punctuation and accents are removed. Your publishing system must check whether the URL already exists. Add a meaningful distinction when needed instead of accidentally overwriting another page.

Plan before changing existing URLs

A new slug changes a public address. If you rename a live page, set a proper redirect from the old address and update internal links, canonical URLs and sitemaps. This generator produces text only; it does not make those publishing changes.
