How to Calculate Your Pay & Hours
This tool offers two modes: a detailed Timesheet for logging daily activity, and a Quick Calculator for instant salary estimation.
- 1. Set Your Rates: Before starting, enter your standard "Hourly Rate" and select your currency. If you earn overtime, adjust the "Overtime Multiplier" (usually 1.5x) and the "Threshold" (e.g., after 8 hours/day).
- 2. Choose Your Mode:
• Daily Timesheet: Enter start/end times and breaks for each day. We automatically detect overtime based on your settings.
• Quick Calculator: If you already know you worked 40 regular hours and 5 overtime hours, switch to this tab and enter them directly. - 3. View Payroll Dashboard: The results box instantly updates to show your estimated Gross Pay, broken down by regular wages and overtime earnings.
- 4. Export or Reset: Use the reset button to clear the form. Note: This calculator estimates Gross Pay (before taxes).
Frequently Asked Questions
How is overtime calculated?
In "Timesheet Mode", overtime is calculated daily. If you work more hours in a single day than the "Daily Overtime Threshold" you set (default is 8 hours), the excess time is counted as overtime and multiplied by your chosen rate (default 1.5x).
Does this calculator deduct taxes?
No. This tool calculates "Gross Pay" (Total Income). Tax laws vary significantly by country and region, so we recommend using a specific tax calculator for net pay estimates after using this tool to find your total hours.
What does the "Break" field do?
The break field subtracts unpaid time from your daily total. For example, if you work 9 AM to 5 PM (8 hours) but take a 30-minute unpaid lunch, your billable work time is 7.5 hours.
