How to use this tool

Enter latitude and longitude in decimal degrees: north and east are positive, south and west negative. SunCalc calculates standard apparent sunrise and sunset, plus moon illumination and phase, on your device. Results are estimates for an unobstructed horizon; terrain, elevation and atmospheric conditions can change observed times. Polar locations can have no sunrise or sunset on a given date. Moon illumination is sampled at noon UTC.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Try these values

For Karachi, use approximately 24.8607 latitude and 67.0011 longitude, and select Asia/Karachi. Coordinates are used directly; this tool does not request location permission or send them to a geocoding service.

Check the signs on your coordinates

North and east are positive; south and west are negative. Reversing a sign can move a location across the equator or to another continent while still producing a plausible-looking time. Select the display time zone separately, and compare the returned date as well as the hour. The calculation uses the coordinates directly and does not need permission to read your device location.

The visible horizon changes what you observe

A calculation assumes a standard horizon and atmospheric conditions. Hills, buildings, elevation and refraction affect when you actually see the Sun. Near the poles, some solar events do not occur on a given day at all. Moon illumination describes the lit fraction of the lunar disc; it does not establish whether a new crescent will be visible from your location that evening.

Common questions

Are the times exact for my street?

No. A local horizon, weather and elevation affect visible sunrise and sunset. Use these as planning estimates.

Why is a solar time missing?

Near the poles, the Sun can remain above or below the horizon. The result explicitly reports that the event does not occur.

Is the moon phase a religious calendar?

No. Illumination and phase are astronomical estimates and do not establish crescent visibility or local religious dates.
