How to use this tool

Select the date and calendar method. Islamic civil uses a tabular arithmetic calendar; Umm al-Qura uses the calendar data available in your browser. Neither is a live moon-sighting decision. Local religious authorities may announce a different start of Ramadan, Eid or another month. The tool clearly labels the selected method rather than treating all Hijri dates as interchangeable.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Try these values

The same Gregorian day can have different Hijri labels under different methods. Compare both options, then use the calendar or announcement followed by your local community for religious observances.

Use the method followed by your community

A tabular calendar follows arithmetic rules, while Umm al-Qura follows its own published calendar data. A local moon-sighting announcement is another matter again. A one-day difference does not necessarily mean that someone typed the date incorrectly. Select the method relevant to your purpose, and use local announcements for the beginning of Ramadan, Eid and other observances.

A date conversion does not give fasting times

Knowing the Hijri date does not tell you when Fajr or Maghrib occurs in a particular city. Use the prayer times or Ramadan calendar for those calculations, then check their method and time zone. For a printed timetable, keep the selected city and Hijri year visible so it cannot be confused with a calendar for another place or another Ramadan.

Common questions

Why does my mosque show another date?

Local moon sightings and calendar methods can differ by a day or more. Follow your local authority for observance.

Is this a Ramadan timetable?

No. It converts dates and does not calculate fasting start or end times.

Which method should I choose?

Use the method relevant to your purpose and confirm important dates locally. The method is always displayed with the answer.
