How to use this tool
Enter a finite decimal or a value such as 4.5e-4. The calculator normalizes the coefficient and power of ten using floating-point arithmetic. It displays about 12 significant digits. Very large or tiny values outside the supported floating-point range are rejected instead of being presented as a reliable exact conversion.
Try these values
0.00045 is 4.5 × 10^-4. Moving the decimal four places to the right gives the coefficient 4.5 and a negative exponent.
Common questions
Is E notation a different value?
No. 4.5e-4 and 4.5 × 10^-4 express the same number.
Does this preserve hundreds of digits?
No. It is a floating-point display tool, not an arbitrary-precision number editor.
