How to use this tool
Choose a direction and alphabet. Text is first converted to UTF-8 bytes before encoding. URL-safe output replaces plus and slash and omits trailing padding; decoding restores that padding when appropriate. Decoding requires valid Base64 and valid UTF-8 text. Arbitrary binary files are outside this text tool’s scope.
Try these values
The text “hello” encodes to aGVsbG8=. Non-ASCII text is encoded from UTF-8 bytes so accented letters and emoji can round-trip.
Common questions
Is Base64 encryption?
No. It is reversible encoding and does not hide a secret.
Can I decode an image as readable text?
Not reliably. Binary data may not be valid UTF-8; use a file-aware tool for binary formats.
