How to use this tool

Enter the horizontal and vertical pixel counts, then the active display diagonal in inches. Pythagoras gives the diagonal resolution; dividing it by the physical diagonal gives PPI. The pixel pitch is 25.4 mm divided by PPI. The model assumes square pixels and does not use the size of a monitor’s outer enclosure.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Try these values

A 1920 × 1080 display with a 24-inch active diagonal has approximately 91.79 pixels per inch.

Common questions

Is PPI the same as printer DPI?

No. PPI describes display pixels per inch; printer dots have a different meaning.

Does this decide whether a screen is good?

No. Viewing distance, size, scaling, panel quality and your needs also matter.
