PRACTICAL GUIDE

Choose a City, Prayer Method and Asr School

Check the three settings that most often explain differences between prayer timetables.

Choose the place where you will be

Search the correct country and city. Cities with the same name can be far apart, and sharing a time zone does not give them identical prayer times. Location suggestions are a convenience: a time-zone suggestion may name another city, and a browser-location result should still be checked.

Match the calculation method

Fajr and Isha depend on a selected angle or interval. Methods can therefore return different times for the same coordinates and date. The country default is a starting point, not a claim that every local mosque follows it. Use the method recommended by your own community.

Check Asr separately

The Asr school setting changes the convention used for that prayer. A timetable matching your Fajr time can still disagree at Asr if a different school is selected. Keep the method, school and time zone visible when comparing two printed timetables.

Start times are not congregation times

The displayed times are calculated prayer starts. They do not specify jamaat, Jumu’ah arrangements or a mosque’s Ramadan precautions. High-latitude adjustments can need particular care. Speak to your local mosque when a result differs from the timetable you normally follow.
